The Croatian Association of Visual Artists Split is a non - profit organization of Croatian professional visual artists working in Split-Dalmatia County. The Association was established in 1945 and has been continuously active since then, though under different names ( ULUH, HDLU, and finally HULU Split). Through solo and group exhibitions of its members and numerous collaborations with other national and international artists and organizations during its 70 years of existence HULU SPLIT has intensely contributed to the development of professional art scene in this region. Today our membership is close to 350 members including visual artists of all generations, who work in all forms of expression and disciplines, ranging from classic traditional professional painters and sculptors to many contemporary young artists working in a wide range of new media like conceptual art, various fields of experimental art , video installations , digital media, performance and other motion-and sound based works.
Apart from organizing exhibitions and offering technical support to individual artists and different art projects, HULU SPLIT focuses on providing continual professional support and information to young artists and students concerning their social and financial status as artists, working conditions, authors' rights and artworks and assistance services. Each year HULU SPLIT in its gallery hosts the annual group exhibition of art graduates.
