Sebastian Thewes is introduced by GOLD + BETON.

2015 Graduation with honours in Audiovisual Arts at Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM)
2012 - 2015 Assistance in KHM's 3D Laboratory and Klanglabor
2015 - present Research Assistance with own seminar "Unsite Temporalities" (alongside Dirk Specht)
2005 - present free works and projects in the fields of graphic-design, programming, animation and media-art.

Sebastian Thewes' main artistic fields are experimental animation, 3D, netart, soundart, video and installation. In his work Thewes explores the aesthetics and aspects of modern culture but also traces ancient remains and follows their path from present to future. Thewes' works shine between the sharpest most colorful aesthetic of fine digital art and an ironic sense of today's celebration of trash, seapunk and tumblresques.

His recent works combine topics such as landscape, wilderness and nature with nowaday's exposure of documenting and picturing the like. For his videoinstallation POLARFLUX Sebastian Thewes travelled to the polar region in Northern Scandinavia to collect photographs and audiorecordings from the unique landscape of the region above the polarcircle. In its glossy stream on an LED screen the work ends up in a disharmonious or even dishonest relation to nature in an slightly ironic way.
