The physical and substantial examination of materiality and form in the works of Claudia Mann seems like a unique feature in a time when contemporary sculpting as cultural inventory is anchored in the every-day by the inclusion of flotsam and jetsam. Instead, the artist reflects about sculpting in its primordial existence, transcending historical context up to discourse about the absolute. Where does sculpting start, where does it end? Does sculpting exist outside human existence, outside of gravity? In her works, Mann dissolves the temporal and spatial borders of sculpting and makes foundation and horizon, production and process become one.

Especially for the premises of Sal. Oppenheim Claudia Mann creates a location-dependent exhibition situation which combines existing ledges, alcoves and pillars into a parcours arrangement.
